The Oregon Convention Center is proud to announce that Erin Jepson and Tom Jelineo have received their Certified Meeting Professional credentials.
Launched by the Convention Industry Council in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals and advance uniform standards of practice, achieving CMP certification requires years of professional experience, education and mastery of a rigorous exam.
Jepson, director of events for the OCC, and Jelineo, who is a senior event manager, join four other convention and meeting professionals at the facility who have earned the international industry badge of honor, reflecting an increasingly seasoned and distinctive OCC management team.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Erin and Tom for earning Certified Meeting Professional designations,” said Scott Cruickshank, Oregon Convention Center executive director.
“These certifications reflect not only hard work and diligence among the staff but a true commitment to maintain Portland as a top tier convention and meeting destination, which has profound effects on our local economy,” Cruickshank added.
In recent weeks, the convention center also received Smart Meetings Magazine’s Gold Smart Stars Award, its top award. Competing against other convention and exhibition facilities, as well as resort hotels, casinos and cruise lines, the Oregon Convention Center was selected by its industry peers for its continued leadership in sustainability practices and exceptional customer service.
Previously, the convention center earned the publication’s Silver Smart Stars Awards in 2013 and 2014.
