The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is proud to announce that event manager Tim Libra has earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential, becoming the tenth OCC staff member to obtain the esteemed industry designation.
Launched by the Events Industry Council (EIC) in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals and advance uniform standards of practice, achieving the CMP certification requires years of professional experience, education and mastery of a rigorous exam.
"I found that pursuing a CMP certification was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the event industry in a comprehensive way," says Tim. "It is also extremely nice to be acknowledged by my professional peers."
Tim joined the convention center staff in 2008. He worked a number of years prior to that as a Patron Manager for Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County, CA and at the Getty Center in Los Angeles as an Assistant Manager in Visitor Services.
“Tim is one of the best event managers I’ve had the pleasure to work with,” said Erin Jepson, OCC Director of Events and Guest Services. “Earning the CMP takes dedication and expertise—two things that Tim embodies with every event he manages. I’m excited to see him join the CMP ranks and can’t wait to see where this takes him.”
This accomplishment demonstrates a lot of hard work as well as Tim’s commitment to his profession, and adding the CMP designation to his title also helps to maintain the OCC’s position as a top-tier convention destination.
