The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) sponsored a unique Twitter campaign called #CSRshareDay on Monday, April 23, and this year’s campaign reached an estimated 1,500,000 people.
#CSRshareDay is a 24-hour event, falling on or around Earth Day each year, where sustainability champions from around the world gather online to discuss and share the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions they’ve taken to make their businesses and communities more sustainable.
This is the third year OCC has sponsored the global campaign. Sustainability coordinator Ryan Harvey and deputy director Matt Pizzuti served as hosts during an hour-long telling of the convention center’s sustainability story. Marketing and web services manager Jon Smith and marketing coordinator Michelle Hedegard posted messages, infographics, photos and videos to support the effort.
“The Oregon Convention Center was proud to sponsor #CSRshareDay for a third year," said Matt Pizzuti. "We appreciated the opportunity to share of our sustainability story with so many CSR champions around the world, and learning what others are accomplishing in the event industry gave us encouragement to continue down the path. Making these connections is the only way to realize the solutions.”
In total, OCC’s #CSRshareDay tweets earned over 16,000 impressions. The campaign is organized by Positive Impact Events, a UK-based nonprofit that provides education, resources and inspiration for the sustainable event industry.
